The Clawhammer Strum
Please allow the video 5-10 seconds to fully load.
Part of the basic clahammer stroke
Just the Strum on its own
After you have played the ‘Strike,’ the second part of the clawhammer stroke is brushing down on all the strings using the same striking finger. This is called the Strum. The thumb comes to rest on the fifth string in both the Strike and the Brush/Strum.
As the Strum/Brush completes the downward action of the Right Hand, the Thumb comes to rest on the fifth string.
The fifth string is sounded by the thumb as the hand moves upwards.
