Joff Lowson on Radio 5 Live
I played the banjo and sang... live to 5 million people!
H/T to Headline Records for getting me inside the building!
I had a lot of challenges to deal with and delivered a solid professional performance with two football chants to play. I also chatted with Irishman Patrick Kielty, one of the UK's most popular broadcasters!

Here you can see the view from the control room as we broadcast live from BBC Broadcasting House in London to approximately 5 million listeners.
You can see the point when my microphone goes live. I didn’t say anything straight away! I was waiting for Patrick to cue me.
You get an idea how intense it is behind the scenes in a national radio station. There are four or five different people talking and operating controls, it’s a bit like the moon landings! Think of this as mission control Houston.
Click the audio player below and you can hear how it would have sounded if you were listening to the radio in Great Britain that cold Saturday morning. You can hear Patrick talking with Sharon first, she is going to be commenting on a big rugby match later.
Once I had got into it, Patrick and I had a chat about my great 60th birthday party then I played two football chants adapted for solo voice and 5-string banjo.
The first chant was for Aston Villa, the second for new Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim.
The BBC kindly provided this high quality video of the part of the show when I was doing the football chants.
