This song was featured in the famous television show from the 1960s and is one of the most popular banjo songs ever. It was played by Earl Scruggs. For many people this song was their very first introduction to the sound of the banjo. It has inspired many people to take up playing this wonderful instrument!
This song is one of the most challenging songs in the Banjo Academy, you will need to coordinate all four fingers of the left hand as well as playing three different rolls with the right hand. The version you will learn sounds very similar to the way Earl Scruggs played it but it has been simplified slightly to make it easier to learn. And if you get stuck, you can always ask Joff for help!
